UK-based pet photographer J. Nichole Smith's book Puppyhood: Life-size Portraits of Puppies at 6 Weeks Old is the epitome of cuteness, featuring page after page of the most adorable puppy photos. Smith, who recently opened the pet boutique Little & Large in London, photographed 25 breeds of dogs over a hectic 30-day period, all the while taking extra precautions to ensure the well-being and health of the young puppies. According to the book description on Amazon, the engaging images show all the details that make puppies so irresistible, "from their pink bellies to their tiny teeth, soft ears, and oversize paws."
With the oversize dimensions of 13 by 11 inches, the book allows enough space to bring each of the little canines to life with true-to-size portraits. Smith says, "All the puppies in the book were photographed at six weeks of age—this stipulation allowed us to use life-size images of each pup, we wanted all of the puppies to be the same age. This way, the drastic differences in size from breed to breed would be emphasized." Looking at the images, it's fascinating to see the differences in appearance and size between all of the breeds, from the bigger husky to the tiny pomeranian pups.
Smith says, "I have been a professional pet photographer for nearly a decade and this may have been the single best assignment I’ve ever had!" If photographing the sleepy, playful, and and happy puppies was as heartwarming as it is just looking at the portraits, then we can definitely understand why!
