Urban art firm SpY has created a massive installation, simply titled Cameras, made up of 150 fake security cameras all mounted onto the side of a building in Madrid, Spain. Viewing nothing in particular, the art piece is a clear statement about the concerns of privacy in our modern global society.
From George Orwell's popular dystopian novel 1984 to current concerns about NSA spying, the feeling of constantly being monitored is an upsetting idea that has led to a number of debates throughout our modern time. Anonymity is obsolete, everyone is spotlighted, and SpY's installation heightens this feeling of invaded privacy through 150 surveying, digital eyes.
Awesome blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?
ReplyDeleteA theme like yours with a few simple tweeks would really
make my blog jump out. Please let me know where you got your design.
With thanks
