Did you ever wish that you owned your very own island? Well, here's your chance! Singapore-based Swedish author Fredrik Härén developed Ideas Island, a concept in which he offers people a free place to stay on one of his private islands so that they can work on their creative ideas.
Härén owns three islands: Ideas Island Palawan in the Philippines is currently closed as a result of terrible Typhoon damage; Ideas Island Vifärnaholme is more than 75,000 square feet of private land with a Swedish summer house that sleeps six located in the center; and Ideas Island Svanholmen, approximately 21,500 square feet of land located close to Stockholm.
Härén chooses the lucky island visitors based on an online application where interested parties provide some details about themselves, what projects they are working on, and whether or not they are ok with donating money to charity.
"The joy of giving birth to ideas is greater than the sorrow of seeing ideas die," says Härén. "If [the idea] does become a success you will feel immortal. If it fails you will not die. The sun will rise again, you will move on—but at least you will feel happy that you tried."
