Portable Wind Turbines Supply Clean Energy

As renewable energy prices continue to fall, many people struggle to have it in their lives. Wind energy, while often a viable option, isn’t exactly possible if you don’t own land to accommodate a giant turbine generator. Minnesota-based company Janulus is trying to change that with Trinity, a portable wind turbine that’s available in four different-sized models to accommodate a variety of your power needs.
The Trinity uses the same type of lithium-ion batteries that are found in today’s electric cars. It features 50, 400, 1,000, and 2,500 watt models. The smallest size can charge your smart phone, which is perfect for remote, multi-day adventures. Larger models can be used in a home setup, and will even recharge your electric car. Those versions also have a wall outlet and allow you to funnel generated power into your home or RV’s electrical grid. Despite their capacity, every model remains extremely portable—the largest option will still fold down to fit into the trunk of your car.
Janulus’ product has hi-tech capabilities. It features an accompanying app that will turn the device on and off, plus provide stats about how much power you’re generating. The program also makes recommendations on its setup, which you can customize based on wind conditions.
The Trinity recently launched a Kickstarter campaign on September 22 and had a fantastic first day—the project is already fully funded.
