The world’s most expensive bottle of red wine to ever be retailed. The Le Clos wine shop in Terminal 3 is offering three Balthazars (12-liter containers) of Château Margaux 2009 estimated at $195,000 each. This is the first run through the extremely popular Bordeaux wine makers have ever packaged Balthazars, and the discharge alludes to the 2009 vintage as “one of the best” with “eminent fixation, artfulness, equalization and freshness.” Château Margaux has made six Balthazars, just three of which will be marked down, all throughLe Clo.
These aren’t just any bottles, though. They are Balthazars, which hold 12 liters of wine (standard wine bottles hold 750 milliliters). This is the first time that Château Margaux, a prominent first-growth Bordeaux producer, has bottled Balthazars.
The wines accompany a couple of advantages. Any buyers of the Balthazars will be flown top of the line to Bordeaux for a private tour of the basements and vineyard, and supper with the head winemaker.
